It is just a fact that ALL lawyers are expected to know something about both Divorce and Bankruptcy law. Both impact too many people for a lawyer not to be touched by these areas of the law. Congress and the President finally got together and managed to pass and sign the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005, "BAPCPA", which went into effect for cases filed on and after October 17, 2005. It no longer matters what lawyers might think about this legislation, it’s the law and we are going to have to deal with the changes.
